I'm in the open beta now, but haven't had many chances to play it yet. It seems pretty cool so far though.
The open beta continues until Sunday I believe and you can get into it via Fileplanet.

You need an open beta key if you haven't bought/preordered it with the beta client...
As for quality, other than the rocky start for open beta, and my lag issues (which have been resolved) it looks pretty. I'm only level 3 so far, and haven't gotten much time to play because of the lag (which is solved now though), work and TF2.
At first I was worried I had spent my money on some sort of failure, but after the lag issues, I finally got the chance to chat/fight/talk to more NPCs/learn more about Aion, the better I liked it.
I call it WoW with better graphics and an Asian flare

Mag and I have been playing and having tons of fun! I think she's about to hit level 12. We're on that server that starts w/ a V... Viesomething, running around as Hintern and Magpieee. But ya, I suppose characters are gonna get wiped anyway in a few? We haven't decided which server we're gonna play yet when it goes live.

Is this game going to charge monthly fees to play once it's out of beta?
And how's the pvp, if there is any?

So what server is it gonna be? I haven't seen the list of the server names when it goes live yet, and I dunno if I'm even supposed to before Friday when we can make two characters.
It'd be kinda cool if we all rolled on the same server so that we might run into each other at some point!

Head Start Gets Detailed

Aion's Head Start is right around the corner. Details surrounding the Preselection program of Aion were very recently announced, but is only one of the benefits of preordering. Those of you who preordered the game will very soon not only be able to access Preselection, where they can create characters and reserve names, but also to leap into the game and explore the world before everyone else. Head Start opens up Aion's full feature set and allows preorder buyers to play the game just as if it was released a couple of days earlier.
Head Start begins on September 20th 12:00 p.m. PDT (more) and runs until release. The official release date of Aion is on September 22nd in North America and September 25th in Europe.
is it a reskinned WoW though also, can you go nude and is the PvP decent?
over hyped and will probably fail in a year when the hype dies down. ive heard some some shady customer service stories as well as some silencing of problems with the game by ncsoft.
Although AION don't look to epic to me, NCSoft is proficient with MMOs and I haven't seen much to show me that they are incompetent. I played City of Heroes for about 5 years before becoming bored with it.
So what class is everyone going to be rolling?
I'm probs going Ranger/Assassin/Sorcerer.
Any suggestions from the people that were in beta?
If I do get Aion it won't be for a month or so, but I intend to either be one of the healers or a tank.
I am going Gladiator to start at least. easy, fun, simple. I like a ranger in most games but aions ranger seems too complex to me.

Gnum and I were talking, I already created my characters on Marchutan. So unless Mag doesn't get the name she wants, I think were probs going there. Elyos too, or however the fak you spell it.

hummm debating if I should pick this up or not on steam, if purchased on steam I wonder if early access is still possible.
I didn't get it through steam, only because I wasn't really thinking that much, but ya, pretty sure Gnum+Mag have there copies through steam and they were able to create their characters early.
Should def be possible.
as long as you buy before the release date then it should still be a preorder and you should still be eligible for the free in game items depends on what you preordered. and if its a preorder you should still get early access. I made a warrior on mar server yesterday and will probably be a gladiator. Name is Twen if anyone wants to play together. what are your in game Names/classes?

Downloaded this game last night. I have a bit of mixed emotions about it. I’m interested since I have never played MMO and the game itself looks beautiful, but I’ve heard MMO’s are like cults and the people are well….
Guess I now have to load it up and figure out how to play tonight…that should be interesting. Probably take me hours to just figure out how to make my character, and make all the pointless decisions on what it will be and look like.

Got the night off tonight so I'll get to installing this. I've heard the Steam install just links to the conventional installer so there's no significant advantage to Steaming it up.

OMG! This game may be way too fantasy for my already over active imagination to handle. I could not sleep at all last night. Went to bed around 2:30 and every time I closed my eyes I would see weird little creatures dancing around. I don’t think I got more then an hour of sleep if I slept at all. I am dragging today and the caffeine’s only making me light headed. Make this feeling stop! The grey walls in my cubical are seeming to be moving…I have done almost everything I can think of at this point in time to avoid doing work. Peppy, Nime, Lord, and whomever else from NJ...I am a prime example of your tax dollars hard at work. :P
I'll write my state senator asking him to provide greenies so that you can be awake and productive.
