[JLM]Pecador: What is your obsession with GIR o.O

Welp, I wanted to take a demo and use the 'startmovie' command and make a HD resolution TF2 clip with the highest video settings possible. I tinkered with virtualdub, merged an asston of tga files into an avi, and it came out decent, but it seems like the audio is slightly out of sync. But yeah...

    GIR is a beast! <3

Watch him destroy and get bent. It's fun. I laughed out loud watching him crater at one point. Seriously. Like harder than I should have...

to get it in sync you gotta manually set the frame rate in video > frame rate to what it gives you for the last option, instead of checking the last option. also you gotta compress it and all that bullshit so you don't have 250 mb for a 5 minute video O:

Video compression seems to be fairly high-resolution; while it was unbelievably unplayable as hell, for quality that good 250 MB for 5 minutes is pretty good. (Compare to my last useages of HyperCam 2 where a 3 minute recording somehow wound up being like 6 fucking GB. Uncompressed of course for highest quality footage, but still. :S)

Windows Media Player somehow threw a fit at the audio instead of the video, unlike all the other methods I tried to use to play that video. (VLC, Quicktime; Winamp displayed no video, and no video track was detected when loaded up into Sony Vegas 7.0). Ironically, even with the video lagging noticeably, the audio would stutter along much further behind it.

TF2 Demo -> Video is some seriously technical shit, yo. (Then again, anything involving video gets complicated - incompatible source codecs with the editing program, etc.) :V

    Thanks Hatter.

Hm, yeah Peppy. I gave manually typing in the frame rate a shot, and still no bueno. I think the audio.wav just started recording at a different point than the video, and I'm not going to bother fixing it at this point because it's not some amazing clip. It's just GIR being GIR! And it is compressed man! The source AVI was over 25gb. Every single frame was like 5-6mb, and there's prob 12000ish frames? I don't remember.

    FWIW I used:
    H.264 @ 60 overall quality
AAC audio codec @ 128 avg bitrate
    1280x720 (standard HD reso)
    30 FPS

So yeah, it's going to be a big file. If you can't get it to play, you can stream it right in the page it's linked on. Just click the play button imo. But, if you wanted to play it from your own computer just google and download the k-lite codec pack and it'll work fine.

I just wanted to test and see if I can could a good looking video @ that resolution on the very highest TF2 settings, and it worked. Framerate is smooth, nga!

I know you had posted the link for a song to get us in the mood for Gir earlier, but then later it went MIA for some reason - watching it my first time, I kept wishing I had that link. The music so makes the mood lol
